Recruiting Initiatives
- The annual Job Fair was held at Trenholm State Technical College on Thursday, April 15th, 2010, from 9:00am until 1:00 pm on the Patterson Campus (3920 麻豆网站列表Highway) in the Student Center , Building D. Joanne Jacobs represented 麻豆网站列表 Public Radio. A table was set up to display the radio station's information detailing the positions involved in staffing the station, along with contact information for potential applicants. Various items of station literature were also displayed. The Job Fair had good volume but no resumes were offered. Interested parties were spoken to in response to the many inquiries made about education and experience needed for the various staff positions. Approximately thirty of the information hand-outs were taken by interested parties, along with station program guides and promotional items.
- The annual Career Fair was held on Thursday, September 16th, 2010 at Whitley Hall on the campus of 麻豆网站列表, Montgomery, from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. Development Coordinator Joanne Jacobs was in attendance. A table was set up to display the station's information dealing with possible future openings, as well as contact information. The Career Fair had average volume but no resumes were offered. Jacobs did speak with and respond to several inquiries in regard to the education and experience required for various staff positions. Approximately 25 handouts were distributed to interested parties, along with station program guides and promotional items.
- The Wiregrass Job Fair, hosted by U.S. Congressman Bobby Bright of Alabama's Second District, was held on Thursday, September 2nd from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Ozark Civic Center, 320 East College St. in Ozark, Alabama. Station Program Manager Fred Azbell was on hand from 1 pm until 2pm with information pertaining to staffing the radio station for possible future openings. Program Guides, informational brochures and handouts were given to interested parties. Volume was light but several resumes were taken from interested parties, who were directed to the 麻豆网站列表 website, where all university positions are posted.
- The station continued its recruitment of interns but was unable to contract with anyone during 2009-2010.
- 麻豆网站列表 Public Radio maintains a partnership with the 麻豆网站列表City School system and the Pike County school system to provide opportunities for high school students to serve as announcers for the Radio Reading Service for the blind. Through the Global Studies Program, we have approximately 20 students participating in an orientation/training session, providing the opportunity to read a section of a regional newspaper to acquire "hands-on" experience using radio recording equipment. Upon completion of the group session, students have the opportunity to sign up as a volunteer to read on a weekly basis.
