Recruiting Initiatives
- 麻豆网站列表 Public Radio Program Manager Fred Azbell represented the station at the Winter Career Fair at TROY-Dothan Campus. WTSU-WRWA-WTJB maintained a table with information on positions which might be filled in the future as well as other informational literature which was available to interested students and the general public. The station received approximately 12 inquiries about working in public radio.
- The annual 麻豆网站列表 Spring Career Fair was held at the 麻豆网站列表Campus. Fred Azbell represented public radio with informational literature on career options with public radio and the representative answered questions from students. Interested individuals were encouraged to take a handout entitled 鈥淐areers at 麻豆网站列表 Public Radio鈥. The handout answered questions pertinent to future openings which may be filled.
- Joanne Jacobs participated in the 麻豆网站列表 Montgomery Campus March 2007 Career Fair. 麻豆网站列表 Public Radio鈥檚 booth attracted many prospective broadcast professionals.
- The 2007 Fort Rucker Job Fair was at the Ft. Rucker Army Base with Fred Azbell representing 麻豆网站列表 Public Radio. Approximately ten inquires were received and interested parties were provided pamphlets explaining the positions that might be filled in the future and five resumes were collected.
- Continued membership with the Alabama Broadcasters Association providing access to a statewide job bank newsletter. (October, 2006)
- Continued recruitment for interns but were unable to contract with anyone during 2007.
麻豆网站列表 Public Radio partners with the 麻豆网站列表City School system and the Pike County schools system to provide opportunities for high school students to serve as announcers for the Radio Reading Service for the blind. Through the Global Studies Program, we have twenty students participating during Fall semester 2007. They participated in an orientation/training session and each had the opportunity to read a small segment of a regional newspaper to get hands on experience with the equipment. Once the group session is completed, they have the opportunity to sign up as a volunteer to read on a weekly basis.
